General overview of the software tool

The tool is implemented in Microsoft Excel, all functionality of Excel is available.

Data and Graphs are located on different Tabs.

There are only a few tabs where you have to enter data:

  • Region Setup to enter the names of the bench mark regions
  • Tab labeled "Context" to enter the context setting data
  • Tab labeled "1","2", ..., "n" to enter the regional data in the Matrices.

The majority of the graphs are based on Pivot tables, but you can use the standard Excel graph features to change the look of the graphs.

Data and graphs are displayed on the different Tabs.

Tabs starting with a 'G' display graphs of the matrices, these are the ones you will use most to analyse, bench mark or compare your region with other regions.

Tabs starting with 'CS' deal with the context setting, the most important Graph here is CSp G.

Tabs ending with % show the values as percentages, otherwise absolute values are displayed.
The %-graphs are best used for inter-regional comparison.

The tabs MIN, MAX and MEAN display the minimum, max and mean values of the partner regions.

The tabs IMP_Max, IMP_Mean and IMP_Min contain the max, mean and min values of the original Impactscan partner regions. This can help you to position your region with respect to these regions.

IMPORTANT: if you're benchmarking you region with another region then be sure to empty the values in the tabs IMP_Max, IMP_mean and IMP_Min, otherwise these values will be used in the calculation of the max, mean and min of the regions under comparison.

The DDBB tab is used for calculations and shouldn't be modified.

Additional help is provide by clicking on the embedded hyperlinks in the Excel-tool.

You can custumonize the tool by using the 'Replace' function of Excel (eg. if you want to replace R1 with the name of your region, simply use the 'Replace' function (be sure to select 'entire workbook')). Equally you can rename the tabs by using the rename function of Excel.

Remark:
When starting the Excel tool a pop-up might appear warning you about Macros, you can accept this.
